More Delft style drawings

February 3, 2015

Continuing with the blue Delft style that I’m being so inspired by….two drawings done on smooth cream paper, soft graphite and colour pencil.
One is of a back view of my dear old staffie, Charlie, surrounded by vignettes .

The second picture, Cuckoo, is how I’m feeling at the moment!

Blue crayon portraits – End of an Era

December 5, 2014

A few weeks before the old sorting office closed for good, I drew most of the staff with a blue crayon on cream coloured paper. The blue crayon Is used in the sorting office to circle the returning address when the letter is endorsed ‘return to sender’. It’s called a kill off crayon…very apt for the situation we were in.

A college, Greg nay wrote a very moving poem to accompany the portraits on 4 sheets of A1 paper also done in blue crayon.

I then got the posties to write a personal thought or catch phrase at the bottom of the portrait.

The exhibition went up in the callers office for the general public to see.
It was very successful and even moved some people to tears!

I had worked there for nearly 25 years and have seen many characters come and go. That’s what made the place, the people who grafted there….goodbye Woodford Green.

Large Drawings

October 20, 2014

I found this large hare rolled up in my studio when I was having a tidy up. I did it at collage.
The frame was left outside one one the flats on my delivery, I had it sitting up there for years….got some Perspex form Colvins in Walthamstow and put it together and it looks great.

After an earthquake

April 7, 2014

After an earthquake

Look what happened to the horse mural after the 5.4 earthquake we had in Italy last year….
The wall had to come down so he no longer exists.

The one in the hall way is also damaged but can be saved.
